GARDENING CLUB

While inputting data from the Village Appraisal Questionnaires, I notice that many of you would like a Gardening Club in the village.
If no one is prepared to start one up here, as secretary of the Reepham & District Gardening Club, I can say that anyone from Bawdeswell and elsewhere would be very welcome to join us.  We have about 80 members, many of whom, including myself, come from outside Reepham.
We meet on the third Tuesday of every month in Reepham Town Hall at 8 p.m. and, with the exception of one month when we have our mini show and December when we have a party, we have a speaker every month.  We also have at least one outing during the year and a newsletter comes out approximately three-monthly.
Annual subscriptions are £6.50 (payable from May), with a payment of 50p entrance to each meeting, which includes refreshments.
Guests are welcome to try us out at a cost of £2 per session.
If you would like a copy of our programme for the year, or would have trouble getting to the meetings in Reepham, please let me know

In the absence of our President due to illness, Aleathia opened the March meeting and welcomed a prospective new member, Trish Chipp. Carol then read the Minutes.
Our Speaker, Mr Roy McLean, gave a most interesting talk on "Norway and the World's Most Beautiful Voyage". He and his fellow tourists started this voyage at Bergen and sailed right up to North Cape with the occasional stop to see something of the fascinating Norwegian towns.
He showed us lovely slides of fjords (incredibly some are 2,000 feet deep) and small villages nestling at the foot of huge snow capped mountains. Interesting views of the local fishing boats, shop windows displaying handmade lace, and some spectacular shots of the Northern Lights.
The exhibition, Scenic Holiday Photo, was, naturally enough, judged by Mr McLean. 1st Janet, 2nd Yvonne. The raffle was won by Carol.
We then discussed our forthcoming W.I. Fair to be held in the Old School Room, Sparham, on Saturday, 10th May at 10.30 a.m. Stalls to be held include Cakes, Bric-a-Brac, Books and Nearly-New Clothes. There will be a Raffle and of course, welcome cups of tea/coffee.
Next month's meeting is on 14 April, in the Old School Room, at 7.30 p.m. and new members are always welcome. The Speaker on "Film, T.V. and Show World" will be Mr Don Wescott. For the exhibition we are asked for a slogan.
