LETTERS

The M.E. Coffee Morning held at Four Winds, Foxley on Saturday 17th May managed to raise £105 for Action for M.E.  It would have been nice to see a few more people but I thank the people who did come and support us.
Many thanks especially go to my parents Gladys and Robert Dewing and my aunt's Beryl Pratt and Bridget Sayer for all their help on the day.  Without their support the event couldn't have gone ahead.

Tracy Dewing      (This letter should have been published earlier.  Sorry. Ed.)

John Arthur Farthing
The funeral service of John Farthing took place at Bawdeswell Church on Wednesday 25th June, and was conducted by the Rev Tom Candeland.  Celia Joice played the organ.  John’s main interests in life were his family, music, fishing and gardening.  He is greatly missed.
I would like to thank all friends and neighbours for the many cards and condolences.
Thank you,   Mary Farthing.

Congratulations to Edward Webster of Foxley on receiving his long service award at the Royal Norfolk Show.  Over 50 years working at Moor Farm for N Davis & Son.
He also achieved an unbroken attendance while at Bawdeswell CP School 1947 –1952.  What a Record!

I'm wondering if you could help me with my enquiry.  I used to live in The Rectory at Bawdeswell during the war.  My granny (Nell Callaghan) lived with my mother (Hannah O'Brien) and us children in The Rectory.  My granny actually died there.  We were evacuated from London during the war around 1943.  My father was in the army.  My aunty Nell Donaghue and her family (2 boys and 2 girls) lived in The Willows, which I remember quite clearly and I also remember seeing the wreck of the church opposite which was hit by the plane.  It didn't really affect me because I was only about 5 at the time.  The thing that affected me most was when my lovely dog 'Binky' was hit by a lorry outside The Willows.  We buried him in the back garden.
I have found pictures of The Willows on your website where my relatives lived, but I can not seem to find any info on The Rectory (where my sister was born in 1943).
Please could you assist me with my enquiry.

Sheila Berry, Perth, Western Australia.  (Can anybody help, or does anybody remember these families?  Ed)
