LOCAL HERITAGE GROUP
Over the summer we have been planning several projects:-

14th October  7.30 – 9.30pm  Dave Barber will introduce and demonstrate the use of  “The Community Multi-Media Archive” (C.O.M.M.A.)  This is a country wide initiative to collect and preserve local history.
18th November  7.30 – 9.30pm  Dr Andrew Macnair will give a talk on his research, based on map evidence of ancient woodland in the Bawdeswell and Foxley area.
16th December  7.30 – 9.30pm   Christmas gathering.

We are planning the planting of wind and sound barriers in different areas, and would encourage you all to put forward suggestions.

Thank you to all the friends who have worked on the Village Information leaflet and walking maps.  Also the demolition and removal of the hut from the recreation field.

We look forward to seeing you at The Park, Park Farm, corner of Dereham Road and the A1067.

BECK WI
Aleathia opened our August meeting by welcoming a new member, Gill Page, and introducing our guest speaker, Charlotte Philcox.
Charlotte is currently Head Gardener at Aylsham Manor and she gave us a most interesting talk on Organic Gardening. This is  a subject very dear to her heart, although she prefers to call it natural gardening. In addition to showing us slides of beautiful gardens - organic grown vegetables as well as flowers - she gave us some useful tips. Charlotte  feels that a garden is not complete without a well maintained compost heap.
At our September meeting, Aleathia explained that the speaker was unable to come and Ann Morgan, previous Federation Chairman and Editor of the Gazette had agreed to stand in.
Her talk, entitled Life's Like That, consisted of some worrying, some amusing but always interesting incidents from her past. We all appreciated the time Ann gave up to come and talk to us, and a vote of thanks was given by Carol.
Our Speaker's subject next month is Natural History of the Broads and the exhibit is a Single Stem Flower. Answering several enquiries, the filling in the unusual sandwich won by Margaret Peachment last month was Date and Carrot.
Next meeting, Monday 11th October, 7.30 p.m. in The Old School Room. new members welcomed.
