A double bill this month.  There was not sufficient time for last month’s write-up to be included in the November Reeve’s Tale.
Although down in numbers, due to holidays, members welcomed Mr Keith Teesmith to our October meeting.  His talk on The Great Hospital in Norwich was very informative and his research into the history of the building, which began in 1249 as a Poor House,  was very thorough indeed.
After 750 years it now provides accommodation for a total of 140 residents, caring for the elderly of Norwich, in both the Nursing Home and Residential Home, plus self-contained cottages for married couples in the grounds of the Great Hospital.
After the speaker, refreshments were served and the exhibition judged.  1st Reggie, 2nd Margaret.  A short quiz was enjoyed before the close of the meeting.

It was our Annual Meeting on 11th November.  Members were welcomed by President June Edwards.  As Aleathia, in her capacity as WI adviser, had to attend another WI meeting, we were pleased to welcome Florence Lloyd from Burnham Market, who took us through the rules of electing a new committee.  Officers and Committee remain the same as last year so our Secretary, Ruth Whitmore read the Minutes for October and then the Annual Report.  Aleathia had prepared a Balance Sheet which was displayed on a table for everyone to see.
Florence then gave a short but interesting talk on the history of the WI from 1897 when it was founded in Canada, to 1915 when the first WI was formed in this country – although it wasn’t self-governing until 1917.
It was then the turn of Jo Platten from Reepham’s  Busy Lizzie’s  to entertain us.  Using various shades of green and a few well chosen flowers, she made two most attractive arrangements which would certainly take pride of place on anyone’s Christmas table.
The exhibition – Christmas decoration in a saucer – was won by Margaret,
2nd Carol, and the raffle was won by Elizabeth.
No meeting in December.  Our Christmas dinner is on 16th December.
