Women’s World Day of Prayer
This was held on March 7th at St Margaret’s Lyng.  Twenty five ladies and one gentleman enjoyed the service put together by the Women of Lebanon.  Revd Jane Sperring’s talk on the work of the Holy Spirit challenged us.
“Were we willing to be changed and led by the Holy Spirit?”
The collection of £74.50 was sent to the Prayer Movement, Christian Literature and Christian Educational Projects

BAWDESWELL PARISH COUNCIL
EXTRACTS OF MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 3rd MARCH 2003 at 7.30pm. IN  THE VILLAGE HALL
PRESENT:    Councillors Battley(Chairman), Cunliffe, Farthing, Hind,
Lilwall and Smith   Mr.J.Mallen(DC)  9 Parishioners
APOLOGIES:  Councillor Clarke.  Mrs.I.Floering Blackman
MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:  Agreed and signed.
MATTERS ARISING:
Bottle Bank - 3 Bottle Banks are to be provided. Clerk to monitor usage.
Fly Tipping - several bags of rubbish have been left near paper bank which together with cardboard boxes etc. was causing a problem.  Clerk arranged to have cleared.
Pathway between Saxon Meadows and Recreation Field - Mr. Norton NCC Highways contacted Clerk stating he had suggested to Mr. Balmforth that a slope should be made - Councillors not happy with this.  Mr. Mallen to discuss with  Breckland.
 PLANNING
Land at Reepham Road - demolition of existing bungalow and outbuildings.  Erection of 10 dwellings with garages/carports.   Several Parishioners attended meeting expressing their concern about this PA.  A lengthy discussion took place and Councils objections are:   shared vehicular access with no ''splay'' onto dangerous bends in Reepham road:  increase in traffic estimated 20-80 car movements per day going in and out of site:   safety concerns for access of emergency/service vehicles entering site, turning round or reversing back onto Reepham Road : increase in number of larger dwellings:   concerns about infrastructure(drains, sewerage, power supply):  close proximity to adjoining properties:  increased traffic along Reepham Road causing serious traffic hazard.
Barn adjacent Park Farm - change of use from farm shop to office :  No objections although Councillors commented that this had never been used as a farm shop.   PA shows an increase in vehicular traffic from 0 to 10-20 per day which could cause problems with garage entrance next door.
Clerk to find out about ownership of triangular piece of land in Norwich Road.
It was agreed that Village sign should be taken down and preserved.  It is hoped that new sign can be included in Village Appraisal .
NEXT MEETING IS MONDAY 7th APRIL 7.0pm IN THE VILLAGE HALL.
ALL PARISHIONERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.

PAPER BANK:  on several occasions recently the back of the Paper Bank has been opened and it appears has been used as a 'DEN'.  This is extremely dangerous as someone could be trapped inside.  ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANYONE OPEN THIS - IF ANYONE SEES SOMEONE
               7
OPENING THE BACK PLEASE CONTACT THE CHAIRMAN OR CLERK.   THE MONEY COLLECTED FROM THE PAPER IN THIS BANK IS GIVEN TO THE VILLAGE HALL TO HELP WITH EXPENSES. IT WOULD BE A PITY TO HAVE TO HAVE IT REMOVED BECAUSE OF THE ACTIONS OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
SAND/GRIT BINS:   The four bins were purchased with money from the Precept to which everyone in Bawdeswell contributes.   All of the backs and lids of them have now been smashed - yet another example of the mindless vandalism occurring in Bawdeswell at the moment.   PLEASE, IF ANYONE SEES PARISH COUNCIL PROPERTY BEING VANDALISED LET CHAIRMAN OR CLERK KNOW.
