FOXLEY  SUMMER  B.B.Q. - Report

Sunday afternoon 29th June, one of the finest days of the year, saw a gathering of Foxley residents (and some welcome ones from Bawdeswell) come to Margaret and Ivan Powley’s splendid garden, Longview.  Tables were set alongside the lake, with a marquee provided for those preferring a cooler setting.   With a waterfall playing for our visual pleasure,  Ian and Samantha Leadbetter, our resident musicians, brought along their group Head Candy to provide us with some excellent music,  whilst the barbeques wafted their mouth-watering odours to us throughout the afternoon.
For a respite from eating and drinking (especially drinking!) competitions were arranged in bowls, quoits and a variety of lawn games.  What had originally been intended as a simple get-together on a summer’s afternoon, became a very enjoyable social event, with fresh faces appearing, and new friendships started.   It is a very pleasant place to live in, Foxley.                          D.B.

A NICE DAY OUT

We invited people to write to the Reeve’s Tale and tell us about things they have enjoyed doing and considered  A Nice Day Out.
There was no response.  With the Summer here, perhaps this is a good time to repeat the request.  If there is anything special that you have seen or done in the locality, please share it with us.
Details of how to contact the Editor of The Reeve’s Tale are at the bottom of
page 1.    Thank you.

DELIVERING THE REEVE’S TALE
The Reeve’s Tale  takes a short break now and will be back again in October.  It has been the custom to give the contributors and the Delivery Team a month off during August.   The parish councils are in recess and the schools are on holiday.
Thank you to all who contribute and those who volunteer to deliver the magazines.  Without you it would not happen.
If anybody could take over the delivery in Hall Road and 2 Fields Way area come the Autumn, ½ an hour a month, it would be very helpful.

Project SWITCH  The Community Car Scheme sponsored by Norfolk County Council  is now underway.

The aim is to provide a Community Car Scheme for parishes which do not have one.
The Project is always looking for volunteer drivers to assist them.  The driver’s expenses are paid at a mileage rate of 35p per mile for each journey including the mileage to and from the driver’s home.  18p per mile is collected from the passenger at the end of the journey and the balance is paid monthly by Project Switch.
For more information please phone the Dereham office on 01362 697543 and ask for Wendy Simmons.
