BAWDESWELL  & DISTRICT
FRIENDLY  CLUB

Our regular monthly meeting on the first Thursday of each month next falls on Thursday the 6th February and will be held in Bawdeswell Village Hall at 2pm.
On this occasion we will be entertained by Tony and Miriam Ireland with an afternoon of music and Norfolk nostalgia entitled “You must remember this”.     Tony had us all in fits on his last visit when he talked to us about Norfolk Dialect and he is well known for his musical diversity as well.    As usual there will be a good spread of home made cakes and refreshments, all inclusive for a very moderate £2.   Non-members are more than welcome.    We also have some attractive raffle prizes.

BAWDESWELL HEATH TRUST

The Trust has at last had its application for inclusion in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme approved by the DEFRA.  This should result in work on regenerating lowland heath areas commencing in the next few weeks by either nominated contractors or by members from the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.  The majority of the work will be clearance of scrub birch, bracken and derelict gorse to encourage regeneration of heather and will be confined to designated areas of the heath.  In the interests of public safety it may be decided to limit public access to parts of the heath whilst work is in progress and the public are requested to co-operate in this respect.  The Trust would welcome the support of any local enthusiasts as conservation volunteers, particularly those with skills and experience in this type of work.  For any further information on voluntary participation or for the conservation plan please call Bill Flynn on 01362 688413.
