Reepham & District Rotary Club

At a recent meeting last year’s President, Richard Ellis, presented a cheque for £3,000 to the Reverend Michael Paddison.  This money is to be used for part refurbishment of St Michael’s Hall, adjoining St Mary’s Church, Reepham.  It is hoped work will now commence on updating the kitchen and the installation of extractor fans.  Rotary were very pleased to support this very worthwhile project, as it directly helped the elderly people of Reepham and surrounding districts who use the Day Centre.

This year’s President, Cliffie Harmer, has decided to support a Crossroads Charity.  We had a talk from one of their representatives at a recent meeting, explaining their work in supplying paid volunteers for relieving carers who are looking after friends and relatives in their own homes.

Members will be erecting a Christmas Tree in the Market Place.  It is kindly being donated by Beryl Rounce from Cawston who responded to our appeal in my previous newsletter.  Many thanks to Beryl and the other people who responded.

We have had a request from Taverham Hall School wanting to get involved with the School’s Public Speaking which Rotary are sponsoring.  John Tym is liaising with the school and also hopes to get other local schools involved.

The Club has now organized the filling of 2 Aquaboxes.  These are containers which were purchased from Rotary International and we then organized to have them filled with items which might be required in disasters throughout the world.
