BECK W.I.

Those of us who went to the April meeting, were entertained by a different speaker from the one we had expected. At our June meeting, this happened again.
Because of ill health, Jo of Busy Lizzies, was unable to come and demonstrate a Summer Flower Arrangement. Instead, and at very short notice, her place was taken by Denise Janes who gave a delightfully informal talk about her work in the Tourist Information Centre at St. Albans.
Denise had worked there for 29 years before moving to Norfolk, and she shared with us some of her interesting encounters, meeting as she did, so many members of the public with their diverse problems and queries. Who could imagine a Tourist Information office dealing with 19,500 people in one year, but that number was indeed counted during one of Denise's last years at St. Albans.
The Minutes were read by Carol in the absence of Ruth, and June drew attention to forthcoming events.
The Flower arrangement in a wine glass was won by Carol, with Audrey second. The raffle was won by Jean.
Next month - 14th July - our speaker's chosen subject is Beautiful Hats and How to Wear Them, and we are asked to bring a hat for our exhibition.
As usual, we meet at the Old School Room, Sparham, at 7.30 p.m. and new members are always welcome.
