FOXLEY OPEN GARDENS DAY

Enough rain fell in half an hour for white water rafting to have been more appropriate than an Open Gardens Day at Foxley on Sunday 8th June.  However, undaunted, Foxley residents offered shelter and hospitality to the many visitors from Norfolk and the surrounding counties.  Quite understandably, numbers were down but nevertheless enough was raised to give £580 each to the East Anglia Air Ambulance; the Church building Fund and the Village Hall.

Peter Mendham and his colleagues of the East Anglian Air Ambulance showed their appreciation of our efforts by flying over the village a number of times and landing so that children could have a really good view of the helicopter, and meet the crew.

The committee would like to thank all residents; friends from local villages and others who gave so generously of their time and energy to make this day a very memorable one in the history of Foxley Village.

BAWDESWELL VILLAGE HALL

The Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 9th June.
Jayne Bown was elected as chair and Delia Riseborough as treasurer.  The post of secretary is to be confirmed.  Paul Giles has been appointed as part time caretaker.
For the first time in years, the committee is at full strength and we are looking forward to developing the facilities at the Hall.  The first things to be addressed will be to provide better chairs and tables, improve the lighting and increase storage space.  Clearly improving the poor state of the drive to the hall and providing proper access is a major priority.
Once the initial issues are dealt with, we aim to further develop the Village Hall to make it one of the central parts of village life.  With the village’s support we hope to be able to make significant improvements to the facilities that the Village Hall can offer Bawdeswell and its visitors.
The next meeting is on Monday 14th July.
