FOXLEY VILLAGE APPRAISAL

The recent questionnaire sent to all the households in Foxley has now been returned in fairly reasonable numbers.  The return being more than half made it possible for the Steering Committee to analyse, to collate, and to prioritise the various wishes and concerns of the residents of all ages.
These findings will be on display in the village hall on Thursday 13th March 2003 between the hours of 2---4 pm and 7---9 pm.  The Steering Committee will be available at both sessions for questions and comments.  Remember---What is considered important for the village, and what is not, rests finally with the residents!

ALLSAINTS CHURCH, BAWDESWELL

50th Anniversary of the church
The rebuilding of Bawdeswell church, after the War damage, started in the Spring of 1953.
The Friends of the Church are organising a celebration on the evening of Saturday 10th May.  There will be an exhibition of photographs and supper will be served with wine.
John Timpson, the well known broadcaster and writer, was a young reporter on the Dereham & Fakenham Times in 1953 and it was he who reported on the event for the local newspapers.  He has very kindly agreed to come and talk to us and tell us about his life  from “Bawdeswell to the BBC and back again”.  He had a varied and most interesting career and with his great sense of humour has many stories to tell.

It will be an evening not to miss!

Another highlight not to miss will be the planned
Barn Dance/Ceilidh at Harvest Time.  The Friends of the Church have booked the very popular Norfolk Wherries for 27th September.  The band has a caller and a good repertoir of country dances, making sure that nobody is left out.  A rustic atmosphere is planned, with food and beer and cider.

On the weekend of 13th – 14th December
a Christmas Tree Festival and Concert/Entertainment in the church is planned.  Eight to ten trees will be provided by sponsors and groups/clubs in the village will be asked to decorate one of them for the Festival.  On the Saturday evening there will be entertainment in the church, and a Festival Service at 4pm on the Sunday afternoon.

The Friends of Bawdeswell Church 100 Club still has some tickets to sell.  They work out only £2 a month and the Quarterly prizes start at £100 plus many more.  It’s all in a good cause.
Contact (01362) 688499  or 688512,  evenings.
