ALL SAINTS CHURCH BAWDESWELL On Friday 5th September over
200 people gathered in Elsing church to welcome our new Rector the Revd
David Head. It was a moving and symbolic service and one much
enjoyed by all who were there.
Saturday 13th was the day
of the annual Norfolk Churches Trust Sponsored Cycle Ride. Robin
and Stewart Taylor cycled for Bawdeswell and managed to raise £194
between them by visiting 20 churches. Many thanks to all who sponsored
them.
If this magazine reaches you in time, please try and come along to our Harvest Festival on Sunday 28th September at 10.30am. The whole church will be decorated and the service will be one of thanksgiving. Dates

The Bishop of London wrote recently that “a Christian church is a place where Jesus Christ is lifted up in song, sermon and sacrament”, a “ sacred space” for the whole community, even for those who do not acknowledge a belief in God or his Son. As Bishop Graham reminded us at Rev. David Head’s Institution, the congregation at church represent not just themselves, but the whole community when they worship and pray. Those of us who do have a living faith know that it is our duty to preserve this sacred space, following the example of so many past generations of Foxley people. Hence we are so grateful for the contributions to our funds we have received both from the Open Gardens Day and from Peter and Pam Egmore’s individual Garden Open in August. Having been welcomed by the Churchwarden and evening congregation on September 7th. Rev. David Head presided at our Harvest Festival the following Sunday; a most agreeable service with a thought – provoking sermon and hearty singing, followed by coffee and conversation. While the lovely flower and produce arrangements were being prepared on Saturday 13th.the church was visited by many cyclists on the annual bike ride in aid of Norfolk Churches Trust. Meanwhile, John Harvey was cycling around 20 churches in the area and raised £300 for this cause, thanks to your kind support in sponsorship, half of which will be returned to St.Thomas’. We are much looking forward
to Rev. David Head’s ministry and his leadership in the future. We are
grateful to Tom Candeland for all his help during the Interregnum; to Rev.
Michael Baker for also taking Holy Communion and to John Harvey and Nigel
Hatch for coping with a number of other services.
