LETTERS & MESSAGES

Don Davis
Don Davis died on 12th July aged 90.
He came to Foxley in 1949, working for his brother Norman at Moor Farm.
He and his wife Gwen were staunch Chapel people and attended services regularly.
He outlived Gwen by almost five years and managed to look after himself very well, until age and ill health overcame him.
He was a man of strong principles and beliefs.  I admired him as a friend and neighbour, often sitting and chatting with him, listening to tales of when he was a boy.  He had an outstanding memory for somebody of his age.
I’m going to miss him a lot, as I’m sure other people will.

Billy Dobbs of Bawdeswell died on 2nd August 2004.
Over 80 family, friends and acquaintances attended his funeral at All Saints Church in Bawdeswell on 9th August.
The service was conducted by the Rector, the Revd David Head and Billy was laid to rest in the Churchyard extension in Norwich Road.
Billy will be missed a lot.  Ed

The Steven Williamson Memorial Trophy 2004.
Another new name on the trophy – this year’s winners are Lyng Utd FC.  We also broke the record for money raised £598.76 this year making a grand total of £2,564.76 for the Children’s Hospital since the competition started.  The player of the year was Jason Greves of Foulsham FC.  Many thanks to all who helped with the arrangements and everybody who supported us.
See you next year.  Phil Williamson  and family.  01603 872145

Christian Aid
I received a letter to thank all those who filled the tax slip in on their envelopes, 94 people did this. When the tax is claimed the total of £279.41 will be from our 6 parishes. Over a million was raised for Christian Aid in this way last year and it looks like it will be more this year.  A record £15 million has been raised this year so a very big thank you once again.    Margaret Keeler
